About Us

Jim Bone's BBQ is a dream come true. I have always loved barbecuing for family and friends. After several of these cookouts, my family and friends would tell me how delicious my food was and how I should open up a restaurant or a catering company. I always thought to myself, "Man that would be so fun and cool to do". Remember, during those first few years, I had been predominantly a propane griller. I had a lot of fun with that, but soon decided to venture into the charcoal world and found so much more flavor there. Not long after that is when I wanted to see how smoking meat worked. One morning I told my wife that i was going to Home Depot and I was going to buy a smoker. She laughed and said "You're crazy". So I went and got the Home Depot special on a smoker, rushed home to get it set up, went to the store and got a bunch of different meats and corn on the cob, filled up the smoker with a bunch of hickory and fired it up. With no idea how to smoke meat or what temperatures I needed, I smoked out the whole neighborhood! After a few hours I guessed it was time to pull the corn off the grill. With some friends over we tried the corn and it was amazing. I thought to myself that I was a natural and how easy smoking food is. So we waited a few more hours and pulled off the meats. We tried the meat. Let's put it this way, it was so bad we threw all the food away and ordered pizza. I'm so embarassed to share this story but it was pretty funny, and humbling. That's when I realized I needed to do some homework. This is when my business partner and good friend Jo Jo comes into the story. From then on I was smoking meat every weekend. Getting up at 3 in the morning on the weekends just to get started. Who was there every weekend just to keep me company? Jo Jo was. We had a lot of quiet early mornings to talk about our dreams of barbecuing for a living. I didn't know that his love of barbecue was like mine until one morning he asked if he could participate on the cook. I said of course you can. He ended up doing the whole thing himself. I asked him how he knew how to do eveything to the tee step by step? He told me from all those early morning weekends, that he has watched me. That's when I knew I found a good business partner. As the time passed, the techniques were born. We continued to grow and cultivate our skills. We cooked and barbecued every chance we got. We developed a business model, and had a custom BBQ trailer built. The dream has become a reality. We are ready to get out there and show the world what we got!  Jim Bone's BBQ is here to make your event the most memorable it can be.
